HS Final Results: Private Institutions Outshine Government Ones

HS FINAL RESULTS

86.59% pass in Science; 75.14% in Arts;

87.59% in Commerce; 89.42% in vocational stream

GUWAHATI: All the four streams have registered rise in their success rates in HS final examinations, the results of which were declared by AHSEC (Assam Higher Secondary Education Council) on Saturday. As is the case with HSLC (High School Leaving Certificate) examinations, in HS examinations too the government institutions failed to face the juggernaut from their private counterparts. While 75.14 per cent students have come out successful in Arts against 74.68 per cent last year, 87.59 per cent have passed in Commerce against 84.64 per cent last year, 86.59 per cent have come out successful in Science against 85.74 per cent last year.

When it comes to rank holders in Arts, Jorhat and Darrang have hogged the show with students mostly from these two districts making it to the top ten ranks. As many as 18 candidates could make it to the merit list of top ten. The top rank has gone to Khushboo Firdous of Brilliant Academy Junior College, Darrang. She has scored 478 out of 500 marks. While the second position has gone jointly to Kaushik Kachari of Pragjyoti Junior College, Jorhat and Gitanjali Borthakur of Concept Junior College, Nagaon scoring 475 each, the third position has gone to Kanyashree Bhagawati of Crescent Academy of Jorhat. She has scored 474 out of 500 marks. Only a student each from Kamrup (M) (10th position) of Asom Jatiya Vidyalaya and Kamrup (9th) of Bezera Anchalik College could make it to the top ten. As many as 1,34,496 of the 1,78,998 who took the HS Arts came out successful. While 18,575 got the first division, 42,439 secured the second division and 73,482 got the third division.

In the Commerce stream, Kamrup (M) has led the show with KC Das Commerce College taking six of the top 10 positions, followed by Gauhati Commerce College taking three positions. As many as 18 students have made it to the merit list of top ten. The first position has gone to Ashim Sarkar of Vivekananda Junior College, Cachar scoring 474 out of 500 marks. While Nibedita Gogoi of Crescent Academy, Jorhat and Ayushi Jain of KC Das Commerce College, Guwahati have held jointly the second position with a score of 468 each, Neha Agarwala of Gauhati Commerce College has held the third position with a score of 465 out of 500. In all, 15,589 of the 17,797 students who took the examination have come out successful. While 3,796 have got the first division, 5,303 secured the second division and 6,490 got the third division.

Nagaon district has hogged the limelight in HS Science examination with nine students from the district making it to the top ten ranks. As many as 26 students have made it to the top ten merit list. Three students each from Jorhat and Dibrugarh have got ranks. The first and second ranks have gone jointly to two students each. The first position in Science has gone jointly to Sayan Mazumdar of Darrang College, Sonitpur and Bitupan Arandhara of Ramanujan Junior College, Nagaon with a score of 478 each out of 500. While Daisy Pathak of Silchar Government Boys HS School and Dishant Saikia of Tezpur Bengali Boys HS School have held the second position with a score of 477 each, Hridi Priyam Sarma of Ramanujan Junior College, Nagaon has held the third position with a score of 476. From Kamrup (M) only Sai Vikash Jr College has got two ranks – sixth and eighth. As many as 31,577 of the 36,469 students who took the examinations have come out successful in HS Science. While 15,864 have got first division, 13,231 have got second division and 2,482 have got third division.

In vocational stream, 786 of the 879 candidates who appeared in the examination have come out successful. While 262 have got first division, 500 have got second division and 24 have got third division.

A district-wise analysis of the results shows that Dhemaji has topped the list in success rate in Arts stream with 89.52 per cent of students clearing the examination. It is followed by Darrang with a success rate of 88.03 per cent and Lakhimpur with a success rate of 87.15 per cent. When looked from the bottom, it is Chirang district with a success rate of just 56.36 per cent.

In the Commerce stream, Nalbari has registered the highest success rate of 97.79 per cent, followed by Nagaon with 95.14 per cent. Kokrajhar district has the lowest success rate of 68.83 per cent in Commerce.

In Science, Sivasagar has registered the highest success rate of 93.42 per cent, followed by Jorhat with 92.43 per cent and Baksa with 92 per cent. The lowest success rate in HS Science is from Chirang with just 71.93 per cent.
