HS Results: 6 Ranks Bring Laurels To KC Das Commerce College

GUWAHATI: The Assam Higher Secondary Education Council (AHSEC) declared the Higher Secondary (HS) results on Saturday at 9 am and six students brought laurels to KC Das Commerce College, Chatribari, by securing a place in the top ten positions of the Higher Secondary Examinations 2019, Commerce Stream.

The 2nd rank holder Ayushi Jain scored a whopping 93.6 percent with a total of 468, the 7th rank holder Hansika Chawla scored 91.6 percent with a total of 458, the 8th rank holder Disha Jain scored 91.4 percent with a total of 457, and three students Muskaan Pachisia, Jagruti Sethia and Ishika Agarwal secured the 10th position, scoring 90.8 percent with a total of 454.

Ayushi Jain while speaking to The Sentinel said that although the rank came as a pleasant surprise, she was expecting a good result nonetheless. Offering pearls of wisdom, the rank holder advised that students should make minimal use of social media in their day-to-day lives and asserted that she aspired to be a Chartered Accountant (CA) in the future, as did 8th rank holder Disha Jain.

Jagruti Sethia informed that he would study B.Com in the same college and would later enroll for MBA, while Ishika Agarwal, a poetry scribbler and chess enthusiast, aspires to be a CA.

311 students appeared from KC Das Commerce College this year, securing a 99 percent pass percentile, out of which 246 secured 1st Division, 41 secured 2nd Division and 21 secured 3rd Division. The state highest Economics marks is secured by Prasidh Lakhotia. There are 125 Star recipients with 134 scoring Letter marks in English, 187 in Alternative English, 5 in Assamese, 4 in Bengali, 2 in Hindi, 40 in Accountancy, 71 in Business Studies, 17 in Economics, 88 in Banking, 21 in CMST, 1 in CSCA and 2 in Mathematics.

Principal of the college Hrishikesh Baruah commented, “We hold regular students’ evaluation in academics. Moreover, our professors go beyond the call of duty and even visit student’s homes if required. Actually we held a mock exam prior to the main examination and the results assured us beforehand of a positive outcome.” It is to be noted that though there were no position holders in the year 2018, there were seven in 2015, three in 2016, and eight 2017.
