4th Kashmir World Film Festival Approaching – Thumbs Up to Actor’s Creative Theatre (ACT)

Amidst all the fights, chaos and border issues, the paradise of India, Kashmir, is all set to conduct the fourth edition of the Kashmir World Film Festival. As the world film fests go, a number of movies from all across the world (in a huge variety) will be showcased.

This is the second fest of the Kashmir World Film Festival organized this year, but the fourth edition. The first fest of the year, which means the third edition was organized in the month of June. Held for 6 days from 19th to 25th June, this third edition had screened 45 movies, including some regional flavours brought in through Malayalam film, Eye Test; Bengali films Shortcut and Tin Lakhonir Kahini; Hindi film Sargoshiyan; and Marathi film Happy Birthday. It had some really potent winners in the fest, including Shafqut Habib Hafiz’s Sabbah – The Hope (Feature Length Documentary); an Iranian film by Ebrahim Hatamikia’s Body Guard (in the International Competition section); and Ektara Collective’s Turup (Experimental).

Kashmir has been the delight for many filmmakers. Various movies have been set up in Kashmir or on related stories. Hence, it is not surprising when the place that has been a part of many movies come up with its own Kashmir World Film Festival. This fourth edition of the film fest will be held in Srinagar, in the month of November, this year. This is organized biannually.

The Kashmir World Film Festival is organized by the Actor’s Creative Theatre (ACT), a NPO in Kashmir, which presents feature films, documentaries, and short films. It is open for the entires now. It has different categories of the shows in the fest, including National, International, and Kashmir competition, in addition to non-competition sections like retrospectives and special screenings. Any willing participant/ filmmaker can submit the entry by 28th August, 2018, for the event. There’s a lot to catch up from the Kashmir World Film Festival.
