Huge Quantity of Illegal Timber seized at Assam's Teok by Joint team of Police and Forest Officials

JORHAT, Aug 6: Police in coordination with Forest personnel has seized a huge quantity of timber in block size from a truck on NH-37 in the Teok area. The consignment suspected to be from Arunachal Pradesh reserve forest was being transported to one of the many mushrooming timber mills in Jorhat where the block-size timber is cut into multiple sizes. The seized ‘A quality’ timber worth lakhs of rupees has been unloaded at the premises of the Jorhat Divisional Forest Officer’s official residential complex here recently, Forest official sources said here today.
