GUWAHATI, Sept 30: "The trade of human trafficking is increasing in high rate that now, it spreads to the tea tribe community people in a large way," said social activist Thoiba Singha in a press conference in Guwahati Press Club today.

Singha said: "The business of human trafficking is increasing everyday in the state, and now the minor children of the tea community people are also in demand. Such a case was happened on August 14 last when a person called Tirpan Ali took a group of 14 young boys, with four minors of tea community, from Lakhipur constituency of Barak Valley to Bangalore with the promise of giving company jobs with the salary of Rs 8,000. As the families of those boys were very poor and could not run their families well, they were convinced very easily and sent their sons with that person. When the group reached Bangalore railway station on August 17, the GRP personnel caught the group and asked for the voter ID cards. Failing to produce the ID cards, Ali rejected to recognize the boys and so they were taken to the child home at Bangalore. Later, the families were informed by the Bangalore Children Welfare Committee (CWC) to take the boys back to their homes but due to lack of money CWC had to sent them back."

Singha also said: "The poor families also requested the local MLA Rajdeep Guwala to help them in bringing the boys back to home, but Guwala did not respond them by saying it was not possible. Therefore, they had to take help of us and with the help of CWC, we made the Bangalore CWC to sent the boys to Guwahati yesterday with proper security."
