Hundreds of aggrieved garden workers take to streets in Digboi

From A Correspondent

DIGBOI Nov 24: Following the recent futile efforts of a six member group of suspected banned terrorist group ULFA  (Independent) in delivering their wicked design at the official bungalow of the garden mager, besides dreading the garden workers to shut down the factory till the company complies with the undisclosed demands of the ultras, hundreds of tea garden workers belonging to Sree Krish TE here in Digboi in Tinsukia district took to streets demanding safety and security of the workers.

According to the aggrieved tea garden workers who emerged out of the garden in a huge protest rally, the safety and security of the workers and employees are at stake. Condemning the dreadful act of the suspected armed group belonging to Paresh Baruah led ULFA (Independent), the workers told that in no way they would allow the factory to stop functioning as it is the only source of income for the several hundreds of workers.

Meanwhile, lambasting the loopholes in the existing security structures, the disgruntled workers alleged that their life is in peril as the militants could make their way into the garden to terrorize the common people thus proving futility of the current security arrangements in Digboi.

However, the demonstration of the workers stopped following the submission of a memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner Tinsukia through the OC Digboi Police Station. It is pertinent to add here the ULFA hunt operation is being carried out through the vulnerable pockets of the district.
