HYC demands installation of transformer

SHILLONG, Sept 7: The residents of Amlarem Sub-division have been living in total darkness for the past seven months without any electricity due to the negligence of the Meghalaya Energy Corporation Limited (MeECL). The Hynniewtrep Youth Council (HYC), West Jaintia Council after receiving several complaints from residents of Amlarem region especially those residing at Amlatdoh and Amsarim village, the Council in a surprise checking in the affected areas found that non availability of power is due to the non-functioning of a Transformer located in the area. In connection with the grievances of the people of the region, the Council met the officers of MeECL, Jowai under the leadership of Damanleki Lathong and demanded immediate installation of the transformer.
