Identifying vulnerability of remote polling stations begins

Hailakandi: The Hailakandi district administration has initiated the process for identifying the vulnerability of the polling stations situated in remote and far-flung areas of the district.

Deputy Commissioner Keerthi Jalli and Superintendent of Police Mohneesh Mishra visited the remote polling stations since wee hours on Thursday to check their vulnerability and Assured Minimum Facilities for persons with disabilities (PwDs), senior and elderly citizens. Interacting with local public, both the heads of the civil and police administration motivated them to vote and enquired of hindrances, if any.

They reached out to Reang, Rangkhal and Hmar communities under no voter left behind motto of the Election Commission in course of their visit to remote locations like Betcherra, Shyampur, Aloicherra, Dinanathpur, Lambasil etc. The district administration is pulling out all stops to ensure enhancement of voters’ turnout, particularly in far flung and inaccessible areas that recorded low percentage of voting in the last Assembly elections.

Also, instructions of ensuring basic arrangements like proper lighting, availability of drinking water including necessary preparations for differently-abled persons and elderly voters before hand at all polling booths have been issued to the respective Circle Officers (COs).
