IKEA : World's Largest Furniture Retailer Opens Its First Store in India

Finally, IKEA is opening its first store in India and the world's largest furniture retailer has chosen Hyderabad as the first city to launch its services on August 9, i.e., tomorrow. It took a really long term of 12 long years when the retailer company indulged in deep planning and six year after it made an announcement. The good news is that this is just the first of total 25 stores the company has planned to open in India by 2025.

The new IKEA store to be opened in Hyderabad tomorrow is located in Hitec City and is designed to be a 13-acre complex. there will be a huge range of some 7,500 products in the showroom and amazingly, nearly 1,000 of such products are available for less than Rs 200 a piece. with such huge varieties of choices made available for the buyers and that too at such reasonable rates, IKEA hopes to cater to six million customers a year.

In an earlier announcement by IKEA, it had said that it decided to move the date to August 9 from July 19 as it was in need of some more time live up to its customers' expectations. The retailer wants to be the very best in terms of its commitments towards customers and co-workers. But as things got sorted out later, the opening day is kept the same as earlier.

As a research before setting up its store in India, IKEA even sent a team who visited over 1,000 homes in India with varied income levels and lifestyles. This helped them in understanding the needs and dreams of the common buyers of India and then it finalized on the 7,500 varieties of home furnishing items that are going to be available at its India stores.

Another nameable attraction of the Hyderabad store is that there will be a 1,000-seater restaurant with the menu consisting of vegetarian options, including idli and sambar, samosa and vegetable biryani.
