Illegal Agarwood Worth Rs 20 lakh seized, 4 Arrested

GUWAHATI, Sept 4: The Paltan Bazar police seized 14 cartoons filled with pieces of Agarwood (Aquilaria Agallocha) worth Rs 20 lakh from House No 2 located at Islampur under Paltan Bazar police station on Monday night and arrested four smugglers. According to a police source, they were identified as Mashud Ulla of Dimapur and Nizam Uddin, Anowar Hussain and Kaushar Ahmed of Hojai Ali Nagar. The arrested smugglers brought the valuable herbs from Hojao Ali Nagar, Nogaon and stored somewhere at Hatigaon and later shifted the same to Islampur from where they were supposed to dispatch the cartoons to Delhi. Meanwhile, a case (No 883/18 u/s 120(B)/ 379/ 411/420 IPC) has been registered.
