Itanagar, May 17: Altogether 135 people were apprehended for not possessing valid Inner Line Permit (ILP) during the course of ILP checking drive carried out by the capital complex district administration here on Wednesday.

An official release today said executive magistrates, along with police personnel, carried out the drive in the twin capital cities and caught a total of 135 people without any valid ILP. All the ILP violators were sent away through the inner line check gate at Banderdewa on the same day.

While stating that the capital administration has “zero tolerance” against such illegal migrants, capital complex DC Prince Dhawan said such illegal migrants may create law-and-order problems and breach peace and tranquility within the territorial jurisdiction of the capital complex.

He sought cooperation of every individual to support the district administration in the drive against illegal migrants.

Earlier, the DC, vide an order, had directed the SP of capital complex and all the administrative officers to carry out intensive checking of ILP documents and to deport those caught without valid ILPs beyond the inner line jurisdiction. He had also directed the SP to intensify checking of ILP at all the check gates/entry gates of the capital complex.

The DC has also directed all construction agencies involved in infrastructure development within the capital complex to ensure that the labourers from outside the State engaged in work should have valid documents/ILPs, or else necessary action as per provisions of law will be initiated against them.

Meanwhile, Itanagar EAC Hengo Basar said that during the ILP checking, two persons were also caught with two sacks full of cannabis (ganja), weighing approximately 70 kg, at Itanagar.

The EAC said that he has written to the OC, Itanagar PS to register a case under relevant section of NDPS Act. The vehicle used for the purpose has also been seized, informed the EAC.
