Illegal saw mill seized in Lakhimpur

Lakhimpur, September 15: An illegal saw mill along with wood-chopping machines were seized by the Assam Forest Department of North Lakhimpur along with the help of few police officials recently. Muzibur Rahman was arrested as the main culprit who set up the illegal mill to cut wood stolen from the reserve lands of forest Kakoy and many other protected areas in Somuwa Gaon of North Lakhimpur. Many other crimils were able to escape when the raid was conducted. A 2-cm wood and 6kb timber of various precious trees were recovered by the forest department from the illegal mill. “Few days back our department got information regarding an illegal mill in Somuwa Goan. With the help of the police of North Lakhimpur and with our forest guards, a raid was conducted in the area to recover all the illegal timber. These timber smugglers set up many dens in different locations and we will find their locations and arrest all of them,” said Amuliya Konch, Range Officer.
