ILP activists continue fasting

IMPHAL Aug 27: Three young students in Thoubal district started fast unto death from Thursday morning. The fasting is being carried on under the supervision of Democratic Students’ Alliance of Manipur  (DESAM). The volunteers of the third batch were picked up by police on Wednesday and the three students of the fourth batch carried on fasting from Thursday morning.

So far 113 students and activists are on fast at different parts of the state demanding the implementation  of the Inner Line Permit in the state. At least 13 students who were lodged in the juvenile home had escaped and resumed fasting. Though an agreement had been signed between the government and the representatives of the JCILPS to introduce the bill in the House on Friday the students and other activists are carrying on the fasting and other forms of agitations. The JCILPS had announced that the agitations shall continue till the Bill becomes an Act.
