Imbroglio within AASAA creates confusion among people

From our Correspondent

TINSUKIA, July 23: Infighting amongst the leaders of All Adivasi Students’ Association of Assam (AASAA) reached its height after an expelled group constituted a new Tinsukia district committee in its 4thtriennial convention held at Tinsukia District Library Auditorium recently and created a state of imbroglio in tea tribe community.

Terming the convention as unconstitutiol and held under the alleged patroge of one of the district legislators, Mithius Dhan, president, vice-presidents Sanjoy Mal and Karlos Dhan of Tinsukia district committee of AASAA in a press release stated that  the central committee members Pradip g and Regen Horo who attended the convention, were earlier expelled by the central committee for their involvement in anti-constitutiol activities and for direct participation in the last assembly election and that the central advisory committee had dissolved all the nine district committees on June 16.

The release, while expressing concern, about illegal use of AASAA’s official seal, flag and letter pad in the convention solely to gain political mileage which created confusion in the minds of people, also warned the present ‘illegal’ committee to refrain from misleading the Adivasi community. In an earlier press release issued by Mithius Dhan and Ciprian Khalo, president and secretary i/c respectively on July 16, they even urged the Tinsukia district administration not to permit holding of the convention which was ‘illegal’, but the latter paid no heed to their request.
