Implement Assam Accord in toto : Asom Gana Parishad (AGP)

GUWAHATI, Aug 14: The AGP, a partner in the present BJP-led government at Dispur, on Tuesday demanded the Union Home Ministry to effectively play the role of the nodal agency to implement the historic Assam Accord in its letter and spirit. AGP president and Cabinet minister Atul Bora said Clause VI of the Assam Accord, which stipulates constitutional safeguard of indigenous people of the State, must be implemented at all cost. He said the AGP will not accept anything that compromises with the Accord. Compromising the Accord will be an insult to sacrifices of the over 855 martyrs of the Assam movement and people of the State, Bora said.
