Incessant rain triggers flash floods in Demow

DEMOW, July 9: Incessant rains have triggered flash floods in Demow area affecting normal life. Moreover, in front of Demow Higher Secondary School, due to water it has become difficult not only for the teaching staff but also for the students to go to the school. The large pothole in NH-37 road is also creating serious problems.

The Hari Pora Road which connects Demow Chariali with Athabari Deroi Ghat is also in a poor condition. Same is the condition of the Nitai Barbarua Road which connects Demow Chariali. This road is small but important. Water-logging on the road has resulted in traffic srls.

The Chief Minister had travelled from Dibrugarh to Kaziranga by road on June 5 to attend a party meeting held in Demow Santipur. He expressed his displeasure over the deplorable condition of the NH-37 road. He ordered the company and contractors engaged in repairing of the tiol highway to complete the repair works within the stipulated timeframe but till date the road has not been repaired. The locals have urged the authority concerned to repair road at the earliest.
