Incorporate Khasi subject in Bengali medium schools: KSU

SHILLONG, April 25: The Khasi Students’ Union (KSU) Laban circle has urged the Education department of the state to incorporate Khasi subject at Laban Bengalee Boys’ School and Laban Bengalee Girls’ School. In a statement released here on Monday, the KSU unit in a discussion with the concerned school authorities stated that the schools have no difficulty to include Khasi language as a subject but the Government did not take up the matter seriously as it did not sanction posts despite the schools proposals. The organization have expressed concern over the language not getting its due importance as some schools do not include the subject in their syllabus.
