Increase in burglary incidents gives people sleepless nights

JOYSAGAR, May 2: Many burglary incidents have taken place in Sivasagar and Charaideo districts in recent times which have created panic among the people. In Sonari, two burglaries took place within three days. As per reports, thieves looted the house of Sundar Ghatwar and decamped with valuable items. Besides, in ward no.12, the house of Bhanu Deka was looted by thieves on Tuesday and valuables worth Rs 5 lakh were stolen. Three shops in Sapekhati daily bazaar were looted on Monday.

In Sivasagar town, a mobile phone shop was looted on Sunday while on the same night, a PWD employee’s house was also looted by thieves who stole valuables worth around Rs 2 lakh. Police with the help of local people were able to nab a thief from Sapekhati bazaar and she was identified as Sunita Das. Besides, local businessman of Dolmukh, Sivasagar nabbed another thief on Tuesday and she was identified as Bina Neog.

Meanwhile, in Kalugaon, Joysagar, villagers nabbed two youth who allegedly were selling fake gold ornaments to the women of the village and they have been identified as Rampal Yadav and Binit Kumar.
