'Increased funding by the NEC and DoNER'

Shillong, March 16 :  Meghalaya Governor, Ganga Prasad on Friday informed the Meghalaya Assembly that the state has received increased funding from the North Eastern Council (NEC) and the Ministry of DoNER in the current fincial year.
Prasad, while addressing the House, informed that the assistance received from the NEC under the regiol plan scheme was Rs 45.98 crore during the year 2017-18 as against the release of Rs 41.96 crore during 2016-17.
The funds received from the Ministry of DoNER under the Non-Lapsable Central Pool of Resources was Rs 84.85 crore in 2017-18 as against Rs 76.98 crore in 2016-17.
Prasad also said that during 2016-17 the advance estimates for the Gross State Domestic Product at current market was Rs 25, 765.96 crore showing an increase growth of 9.28 percent over previous years.
The Governor informed the House that primary sector accounts for 20.60 percent, secondary sector contribution accounts for 27.92 percent while contribution of the service sector stands at 51.49 percent.
“The per capita GSDP of the state at current price for the year 2016-17 stood at Rs 77, 121,” Prasad said.
The Governor also said that under the exterlly aided project, two projects, mely, Community-led Eco-System Magement Project which aims at magement of micro-sheds that are not covered under Integrated Watershed Magement Programme to reverse progressive deforestation, unscientific quarrying and mining and stabilize critically important hydrological service at village level in the state and the Integrated Transport Sector Development Project for Improvement of Livelihood and Empowerment of Women in Remote Tribal Areas.
