India-Chi relations moving towards positive direction: Madhav

FROM OUR CORRESPONDENT

ITAGAR, Nov 6: BJP tiol general secretary Ram Madhav on Thursday termed the Indo-Sino relationship as precariously poised towards positivity and expressed hope that the two Asian giants could together influence the new world order for which peace at border is essential.

“The present dispensation in New Delhi is pushing speedy resolution of boundary issues based mutual understanding and concession”, he said while addressing the Fourth Rumtum Kamgo Memorial Lecture here.

“Sooner than later, people of Aruchal Pradesh will travel to Chi just like any other Indian citizens,” he said.

“India will not compromise on Indo-Chi border issue but we will work on improving bilateral relations between the two countries”, he said.

Tracing the root cause of Chi’s claim over Aruchal Pradesh, he said, such claimant of Chinese government gained momentum only after accession of Sikkim to the Union of India.

Further, he hinted at “work-in-progress” towards “water-sharing agreement” with Chi.

“We have water-sharing agreement with downstream riparian tions without knowing how much water we shall receive from an upstream tion like Chi,” he added.

Explaining the mindset difference between the two tions, Ram Madhav cited ancient history.

“Chinese and Indians are culturally different, we think differently”, he said while emphasizing that the Chinese followed Sun Tzu’s teaching in “Art of War” but as Indians failed to learn from Chankaya’s teachings

Holding Nehru’s infatuation with communist ideals for the defeat in the hands of Chi in 1962, Ram Madhav said that post Nehru’s visit to the Soviet in 1927; Nehru flirted with communist ideas and ideals that are all well documented. He had taken a liking to communist Chi that led to signing of “Panchsheel Agreement of 1954” which had “peaceful co-existence” as its core tenet, he added.

“Big strategies and innovative ideas are required to understand the neighboring country and to cope up with their advancement,” he said.

“Chi and Pakistan were never our neighbors and as we have made them our neighbors now it is our responsibility to know how on to deal with them. Whatever we have learnt in the last 60 years is not enough so we have to go more deep to understand them,” said Madhav.

Stating that Pakistan was created by India just after got Independence in 1947 so the two countries understand each other to an extent he asserted that relation with Chi is different as till today India has not been able to understand the Panchsheel agreement made between the two countries.

Earlier, in his opening remarks, Madhav said that India is safe not just because of military power but because of thousands and lakhs of patriotic people like Rumtum Kamgo who had tirelessly worked to defend the indigenous culture.

While appreciating for the role and contribution of late Rutum Kamgo who was the first RSS activist from Aruchal, the general secretary added that that though social media applications like Facebook, Twitter and search engines like Google do not work in Chi as they had developed a weapon to hack it keeping in view of marketing perspective but after the visit of Indian Prime Minister rendra Modi, the President of Chi XI Jinping had also started using Facebook, which shows that there would be better relation between the two countries in the coming days.

Earlier, former group captain, Vayu Se Medalist Retd Mohonto Panging through a power point presentation briefed the entire development and advancement of weapons and aircrafts of Chi and where India was lacking behind.
