India Under-20 Football Team Beat Argentina with scores 2-1

COTIF Cup 2018: India Under 20 Football Team wins against Argentina in an unforgettable match.

New Delhi: Indian U20 football team created history as they beat Argentina, 2-1 in COTIF Cup match in Spain, on Monday, 6th August.

Although the Indian team had faced hurdle in this ongoing COTIF international football tournament as they lost against Murcia U-20 (2-0), Mauritania U-20 (3-0) and played a goalless draw against Venezuela U20. This win had brought solace to the Indian U20 football team while they outplayed Argentina U20 team which held the record of winning U-20 World Cup for six-time.

It was Deepak Tangri who gave India a much needed early lead when he scored a goal in the fourth minute. But as the match proceeded Indian U20 team received a major blow due to Aniket Jadhav was sent off in the 50th minute by showing a red card, leaving them as a 10 men army.

Just Eighteen minutes after this Anwar Ali doubled the lead at 68 minutes with a magically struck free-kick and make India clinging to the winning hope. Finally, Argentina scored a goal in the 72nd minute. Argentina played hard to make a comeback but Indian goalkeeper Prabhsukhan Gill accomplished some stunning saves in the 56th minute and in the 61st minute.

The Indian team played excellently throughout the first half in an attacking mode and created several goal scoring opportunities. Remarking this match as a historical achievement India U20 Football Team Coach Floyd Pinto said that this victory would definitely earn Indian Football more respect in the world of football and this win was a testament to the efforts and belief of the All India Football Federation in moving forward towards developing the youth of the country.

It was noteworthy that this win comes after few weeks when national coach Stephen Constantine criticised the Indian team's performance at the U-17 World Cup and describing it as mediocre.
