Indian Army Soldier Martyred While thwarting Pakistan’s Infiltration bid

Srinagar: The Indian Army lost a brave soldier on Monday after he was involved in a counter-insurgency operation along the Line-Of-Control (LOC) in Tangdhar sector of North Kupwara District.

Sepoy Pushpendra Singh who hailed from Mathura in Uttar Pradesh was martyred along the LOC when he was engaged in foiling an infiltration bid by Pakistani insurgents. During the afternoon hours at around 1:30 pm, the Pakistani troops sprayed a volley of bullets coupled with heavy machine-gun fire on the Jal LP Post along the LOC in an attempt to provide cover-fire so that Pakistani infiltrators could sneak into the Indian territory with an intention of disrupting the Independence Day celebrations in the country.

Sepoy Singh who sustained multiple heavy-calibre bullet injuries was rushed in a critical state to the 92-Base hospital Srinagar’s Badamibagh where he succumbed to his injuries after some time.

The Indian Army in a tweet has expressed solitude to the bereaved family of Singh and said that it salutes the supreme sacrifice that he made on the life of duty while protecting the motherland.
