Indian Army to buy drones to monitor international borders along Pakistan and China

New Delhi: Indian Army is planning to make a large scale purchase of drones in order to secure the international borders. The drones to be purchased by the Indian Army will help its huge force of 1.2 million armies in maintaining a strong surveillance system at the international borders. As the international borders shared with Pakistan and China are of utmost importance, it has been always essential for the security forces on the Indian side to practice special caution.

The monitoring drones will help the security forces to carry out 24x7 surveillance in the border which will further result in checking all sorts of cross border crimes and threats. The use of the drones will result in making the Indian Army more efficient as they will be able to catch any threat or infiltration right on the spot. The information on the purchase and use of the drones has been stated by Indian Army chief Bipin Rawat in New Delhi on Saturday. However, the Army chief has not provided further details about the drones and its uses.

As per the government plans, a whopping sum of around $250 billion will be spent in a duration of over 10 years until 2025. The total sum will aim at military modernization to enhance the Indian Army in facing the regular threats coming from the neighbouring countries of China and Pakistan. As India, so far has fought three major wars against Pakistan in the last seven decades along with the battle of Kargil in 1999, India needs to be alert and ready to face any situation of threat coming from the rival nation. Similar is the situation with China as well because India had fought a war against China in 1962 and had faced a defeat in the encounter.

Indian Army by far is well-equipped with the latest technologies as it has more than 150 Israeli spy drones. It also had initiated a tender in late 2017 for purchasing 600 unmanned aerial vehicles. A plan to buy US-made armed drones is also being considered by the government.
