Indian Army to recruit 30,000 youths from Assam

JORHAT, April 27: Offering a lucrative career opportunity for Assamese youths, the Medium Artillery Regiment of the Indian Army and the Army Recruitment office Jorhat are all set to recruit 30,000 youths from Assam in one of the biggest recruitment rally to be held from April 27 to May 7 at Mariani, 20 kms from Jorhat. Youths from the eight districts of Assam, Dhemaji, Tinsukia, Karbi Anglong, Dibrugarh, Lakhimpur, Sibsagar, Jorhat and Golaghat will be enrolled.

The Army Recruitment Office Jorhat, through a press release,  stated that the youths between 17-and-half years and 21 years,  possessing educatiol qualification of minimum Class VIII for tradesmen category, Class X for general duty and Class XII in simple science for technical category and additiolly Class XII with biology for nursing assistant, could apply. Intending candidates will be screened for recruitment in the army as per the district wise schedule starting with Dhemaji on April 27, Tinsukia on April 28, Karbi Anglong on April 30, Dibrugarh on May 1, Lakhimpur on May 3, Sibsagar on May 4, Jorhat on May 6 and Golaghat on May 7.

The District Transport Office, Jorhat under the present DTO Ujjal Sarma is making an all-out effort to cater to the transportation needs of the candidates in a bid to avoid harassment through levy of excessive fares by certain transporters while commuting the candidates from ISBT (Inter State Bus Terminus) Jorhat, Mariani Railway Station and Jorhat Town. Notably the DTO through an immediate order has pressed into service buses, Tata Magic and Mahindra Maximo vehicles into service.  

DTO Ujjal Sarma said, “In view of the recruitment rally I have made arrangements for fixation of fares of various categories of vehicles which will be charged on per person basis from different pick up points to the MES Camp at Doklongia. As decided, every person availing Tata Magic and Maximo services will have to pay only Rs 10 from Mariani Railway Station to the MES camp and Rs 30 from ISBT and Rs 20 from Jorhat Town to the camp. Similarly, buses will charge only Rs 10 from Mariani Railway station, Rs 25 from ISBT and Rs 15 from Jorhat town to the Army camp at Doklongia. The decision was taken in order to remove transportation hiccups keeping in mind the number of candidates.”
