Indian Institute of Entrepreneurship sponsored workshop on vermicompost gets under way in Darrang

MANGALDAI: In a unique initiative to inspire the younger generation in taking agriculture with modern technology as the means of livelihood and to get them involved with vermicompost, ideal Agri entrepreneur Dhruba Jyoti Saikia of Ramgaon near Mahaliapara in Darrang district has organized a month-long workshop on vermicompost free of cost at his DJ Agri.

Significantly, Indian Institute of Entrepreneurship (IIE), perhaps for the first time in the district, has come forward with a helping hand to sponsor the month-long workshop. A total of 30 selected and interested youths took part in the workshop with great zeal and enthusiasm. Inaugurating the workshop in a traditional way on Monday, District Agriculture Officer Bharat Deuri appreciated the initiative of young farmer Dhruba Jyoti Saikia in organizing the workshop and hoped that the interested participants would get detailed information on vermi compost.

District Development Manager of NABARD, Biswajit Dev, Deputy Project Director of ATMA, Siddhartha Barua, Project Officer of IIE, Mohan Das, Deputy Director of SAMETI, Manik Chandra Sarma Bordoloi, media person Bhargab Kumar Das and other dignitaries addressed the inaugural function. Earlier, Dhruba Jyoti Saikia extended a hearty welcome to all the guests with a Neem plant, a packet of black rice and a phulam Bihuwan as a token of honour.
