Indo-Bangladesh Army commences joint cycling expedition on March 20

GUWAHATI: The third Indo-Bangladesh Army Joint Cycling Expedition 2019 is being conducted under the aegis of Indian Army. The expedition consists of six officers, one JCO and seven other ranks from Indian Army and six officers and six other ranks from Bangladesh Army. The expedition was flagged off from Binnaguri Military Station on March 20 by Brig Pankaj Singh, VSM, Dy GOC Kripan Division of Eastern Command, stated a press release.

The team during its brief sojourn at the station paid homage to the martyrs of 1971 Bangladesh Liberation War at the Bogra War Memorial and also visited a historically important place of Murti in the vicinity. The team will traverse a total distance of 401 km, out of which 264 km will be covered along route Dhubri-Tura-Dalu as part of the Indian leg and further 137 km along Haluaghat-Jamalpur-Dhanbari- Madhupur in Bangladesh. The expedition is another memorable step towards cementing bonds between the two nations and the two Armies. Various cultural events showcasing respective cultures and traditions are planned during the entire expedition on both sides. The expedition will culminate at Madhupur, Bangladesh with ‘Flagging In’ of the expedition on March 25.
