Injury dashes medal hope for Hima Das in the Asian Athletics Championship

GUWAHATI: It was a bad day for India’s medal prospect Hima Das as she was forced to pull out from the women’s 400m heat in the Asian Athletics Championship held at the Khalifa International Stadium in Doha on Sunday.

Hima although took part in the 400mts heat but couldn’t finish as the athlete from Assam had to retire from her sprint because of back problem.

The Athletic Federation of India informed the media that she had spasm at L4 and L5. The doctor who attended her informed that the injury was not so serious and Hima would be okay within a day or two.
