Intelligentsia Explores Multifaceted ‘Indra Kumar Sinha’ At Bakrapara

GUWAHATI: The Bishnupriya Manipuri literati and intelligentsia delved deep into the multifaceted personality of writer Indra Kumar Sinha at a condolence meeting at Bakrapara in Guwahati on Sunday evening.

The condolence meeting called by Ranu Sinha from Nilachal Kala Kendra, Guwahati was jointly hosted by Prof. Kamini Mohan Sinha and writer Kumkum Sinha at their Bakrapara residence in the city.

The condolence meeting presided over by social worker and former principal of Navodaya Vidyalaya Hemkanti Sinha turned out to be an intellectual brainstorming. Besides painting a true picture short story writer and dramatist Indra Kumar Sinha’s upbringing and social life, Dr. Nalini Kanta Sinha, a former professor of North Eastern Hill University (NEHU), Shillong, got the message across that Indra Kumar Sinha was always driven by reason rather than emotion, and writings from his pen are fine brushstrokes for the community to adopt and practice.

Fiction writer and Tezpur University professor Dr. Smriti Kumar Sinha gave a life-size view of ‘creative Indra Kumar’ with his well-written essay on him. He described the demise of the short story writer-dramatist as ‘Indra Patan’ (the fall of Indra). He also gave a detailed account of the multifaceted strokes from Indra Kumar Sinha’s pen.

While social worker Shanti Kumar Sinha gave various awards received by Indra Kumar Sinha, poet Motilal Sinha played the complementary role by adding the BR Ambedkar Dalit Literary award received by the late writer.

If Col (retd) Bijay Sinha spoke on the dedication of the late writer to his mother tongue, poet DILS Lakshmindra Sinha spoke on the creative literature of the writer.

Focusing on the attributes of Indra Kumar Sinha, who was also an artist, from a different angle, artist Shakti K Sinha painted the creative skill of the late writer as an artist. Shakti gave in detail as to how successfully artist Indra Kumar gave grey patches in the hair of freehand pencil sketches.
