Inter-State border peace committee meeting held on May 21 at Milanpur, Gohpur

Biswanath Chariali: An urgent meeting of the Inter-State Border Peace Committee, Assam-Arunachal, Gohpur subdivision and Balijan was held on May 21 at Milanpur, Gohpur with Tana Jerjo in the chair while the objectives were explained by general secretary David Borgoyary.

The committee expressed grave concern over the heinous murder of Alep Basumatary, wife of Upen Basumatary, a resident of Kakila village under Gohpur police station in Biswanath district. The woman was allegedly murdered at Hawa Camp under SDO Kimin Administrative Circle of Papum Pare district in Arunachal Pradesh on May 16. The meeting unanimously condemned the inhuman act and put forward a humble request to the administration concerned to initiate a judicious investigation to arrest the culprits immediately. The neighbouring communities of the border areas were urged to maintain peace and harmony.
