Interim measure as fast-track court

GUWAHATI, April 4: In view the increasing number of cases of rape and murder of women and children, the  administrative committee of the Gauhati High Court comprising the Chief Justice and three senior-most judges has resolved, as an interim measure, to desigte one court of Additiol Sessions Judge in each district of Assam as fast-track court to try the said cases on day-to-day basis. And, in case of absence of the Court of Additiol Sessions Judge in a given district, the Court of Sessions Judge will be the fast-track court there. The High Court has already resolved to approve the proposal of setting up a fast-track court in the State for quick disposal of cases against crimes against women and children.
