International Day of Air Traffic Controllers celebrated at LGBI Airport

GUWAHATI: The Air Traffic Controllers of LGBI Airport, Guwahati has celebrated the International Day Of Air Traffic Controllers on Saturday. This day is being celebrated on 20th October each year to accolade the millions of Air Traffic Controllers around the world who work round the clock to keep the skies safe, as per a communique.

On this occasion, ATC Guild (NER) had organized an event presided by RED (NER) in the presence of APD Guwahati. All HODs of various departments of AAI and various stakeholders (Airlines, Met, CISF etc) were also present to celebrate the spirit of the day. RED (NER) appreciated the dedication and efforts put by Air Traffic Controllers to carry out the day to day operation with great efficiency and safety despite tremendous growth rate in the aviation sector, particularly in North Eastern Region. He also appreciated the culture among the controllers regarding their jobs being done no matter the working conditions.

Air traffic controllers being the core of the safest and the most efficient means of transport; that is Air Travel. Air Traffic controllers have always been and remain the key element in the safe, efficient and environmentally responsible ATC network we have today. Controllers are the most flexible and adaptable elements of the system readily able to grow with continuing evolving procedures, the communiqué said.

On this occasion, a cake-cutting ceremony was held at the venue. The celebration was spread across the entire airport by the distribution of cake and sweets among all the staff working at Guwahati Airport and also extended to the passengers, the communiqué added.
