Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association Scam: Chargesheet filed against former Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) filed a charge sheet against former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah on Monday in the Court of Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM), Srinagar.

In January this year, the Central Bureau of Investigation had recorded Farooq Abdullah's statement in connection with the multi-crore scam.

The High Court of Jammu and Kashmir had, in 2015, ordered a probe into the huge mismanagement of fund by the Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association

Responding to a PIL filed by two cricketers Majid Yaqoob Dar and Nissar Ahmad Khan, the bench comprising the then Chief Justice N Paul Vasanthakumar and Justice Bansi Lal Bhat had pronounced the order on September 3, 2015.

The case is related to the alleged misappropriation Rs 113 crores of funds at the Cricket Association. The scam had come into the limelight in 2012 and Farooq Abdullah was heading the association then.
