Jamuna Boro, Ankushita Boro, Pwilao Basumatary too ensure medal in the ongoing India Open

GUWAHATI: All five women boxers from Assam, who are participating in the India open, are successful to ensure a medal in the championship. Lovlina Borgohain and Bhagyabati Kachari’s medal were confirmed earlier after they got direct entry into the semi final due to lack of participants. The other three today reached into the semi final winning their respective bouts.

Among the three boxers of Assam, who were seen in action today, Jamuna Boro appeared in the ring first and easily won her bout beating Minu Gurung of Nepal in the 54kg. Ankushita Boro, a gold medalist in the Youth Women world Boxing, advanced into the semifinal beating Lalita of India by 4-1 in the 64kg. Later Pwilao Basumatary too booked a berth in the semi defeating Punam Rawal of Nepal in 64 kg by 5-0.
