Jan Shikshan Sansthan, Darrang, Assam Celebrates Swachhata Pakhwada from 15 to 31 July

MANGALDAI, Aug 1: Following the instructions from the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Government of India, Jan Shikshan Sansthan (JSS) Darrang successfully celebrated the Swachhata Pakhwada from July 15 to July 31 in different areas of the district. The celebration began with pledge-taking at the head office of JSS at Mangaldai to mark the ‘World Youth Skills Day’, followed by rally on personal hygiene and cleanliness, awareness camp on waste management, awareness camp on malaria and dengue, workshop on vermin compost and water management, rally on plantation, street plays, door-to-door survey on sanitary pad, awareness camp on the use of toilet and ill effects of plastic materials, competition on vocational trades and shram daan. In all the days of the fortnight, villagers, students, members of SHGs and women activists had taken part in the programmes.

To mark the prize distribution function and the closing ceremony of Swachhata Pakhwada, a function was organized at the office premises of JSS Darrang. Chairman of the Board of Management (BOM) JSS, Darrang, Nilima Boro inaugurated the function by lighting a lamp in traditional way.

Runa Borah, a differently-abled girl student enthralled the audience with her melodious performance of a devotional song. Media person Bhargab Kumar Das, secretary of Darrang District Gramya Puthibhoral Santha, Kulendra Nath and social activist Nazrul Islam took part in the closing function as invited guests. Director of JSS, Darrang, Sheikh Mohammed Amin took part in the function and highlighted the activities of the JSS and appreciated the active cooperation and support of all the staff and beneficiaries. Prizes and certificates were distributed among the winners of the vocational trade competition. A total of 114 participants, including resource person and beneficiaries, were present in the meeting.
