Janata Dal United fields 13 candidates for State Assembly polls

Itanagar: The Janata Dal United (JDU), which is going to contest elections in Arunachal Pradesh for the first time, has released its second list of eight candidates for the Assembly polls in the State.

The party’s North East Executive Council (NEEC) chairman Senchumo Lotha on Thursday released the list.

Sitting MLA from Itanagar constituency, Techi Kaso has been nominated as the party’s candidate from the same constituency. Kaso has been denied the BJP ticket this time.

The party also nominated sitting BJP MLA Dikto Yekar from Daporijo constituency as its official candidate, who would contest from the same constituency.

Six new faces were included in the JDU’s second list – Gumjum Haider from Dumporijo seat, Padmeshwari Jamoh (Lekang), Byabang Taj (Palin), Dorjee Wangdi Kharma (Kalaktang-Rupa), Jikke Tako (Tali) and Ngonglin Boi from Namsang Assembly constituency. The party had on Wednesday announced the names of five candidates.

It has fielded former MLA Tani Loffa from Seppa West Assembly constituency in East Kameng district of the State.

The party also fielded four newcomers including Hayeng Mangfi from Chayang Tajo constituency, Topin Ete (Aalo West), Dana Takio (Bordumsa-Diyun) and Dongru Sionju from Bomdila constituency.

Arunachal Pradesh will go to simultaneous Lok Sabha and Assembly polls on April 11.

The Opposition Congress is yet to announce the candidates name even with two days left for filing nominations with Saturday and Sunday being holidays.
