Joint Action Committee of SRS calls on Governor

SHILLONG, July 22: The Joint Action Committee of the Synjuk ki Rangbah Shnong (SRS) from Khasi Hills and Jaintia Hills met Governor V Shanmugathan and urged him to give his assent on the Village Administration Bill of KHADC.

“The Governor has promised us that he will give his assent on the bill but asked us to be patient since its going to take more time,” president of Synjuk ki Rangbah Shnong, W Kharshiing told media persons here on Wednesday.

Kharshiing said that many things were discussed during the two hour meeting regarding the Village Administration Bill KHADC and JHADC Bill.

He also said that that Joint Action Committee is happy that the Governor has agreed to give his assent on the VAB.

When asked if the Synjuk Ki Rangbah Shnong will being taking part or not in the public meeting called by Former KHADC Chief Adelbert Nongrum on the July 24, the secretary of the SRS, R Blah said, “We have only come to know about the meeting through various newspapers but so far we have not revived any invite from them to attend the meeting to discuss on the VAB and ordince.”
