Justice Sen iugurates Williamgar District Court

WILLIAMGAR, April 8: The acting Chief Justice of the High Court of Meghalaya, Justice Sudip Ranjan Sen, accompanied by the Law Secretary, Wilfred Khyllep, East Garo Hills Deputy Commissionerand other dignitaries, iugurated the court of the District & Sessions Judge, East Garo Hills, Williamgar, on  Saturday.
Iugurating the newly constructed court, Justice Sen said that it was a long cherished dream of the people of East Garo Hills to have the court of the District and Sessions Judge in Williamgar, the ultimate goal of which is to deliver justice. He, however, lamented that despite having Acts and Rules in the country, there is rising trend in the crime rate. Citing example of the recent incident of manipulating the price of medicines in Medhanta Hospital, Justice Sen said that it is the duty of the judiciary to protect the innocent and punish the guilty and urged the members of the Bar Association to be self-conscious.
The District and Sessions Judge delivered the welcome address at the function, while the vote of thanks was proposed by F Silkam Sangma, the Chief Judicial Magistrate. This has been stated in a press release.
