Donkamukam, June 20: Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) CEM Tuliram Ronghang on Wednesday said that under the BJP government, the poorest of the poor people of Karbi Anglong had benefitted. “During the rule of the previous Congress government, nothing much had come from the Centre and State for the uplift of the poor people of Karbi Anglong and so no development for the poor took place. Hence people rejected them,” the CEM said while addressing a Vikas Utsav at Artukekang LP School playground near Donkamukam in West Karbi Anglong. “But things are different now, LPG connections are provided to BPL families, SHGs are given assistance, sanitary latrines have been built, double-room PMAY (G) houses have been built, seeds are given to farmers free of cost, patients are given free treatment under Atal Amrit Abhijan and employment has been provided to educated youths,” he claimed.

He further said that soon wooden bridges would be converted into RCC bridges in the district. He also said proudly that under his leadership, in the last MAC election the opposition had been totally wiped out. In the Vikas Utsav, ducklings and chicken were distributed to the SHGs ceremoniously and mosquito nets were also given to selected families.

Earlier, CEM Tuliram Ronghang, in presence of his cabinet colleagues, MACs, Principal Secretary Mahadananda Hajarika and officers concerned of all departments, inaugurated a library room, science laboratory and craft centre built under RMSA at Borthol High School and later a number of completed schemes of nine MAC constituencies of West Karbi Anglong were inaugurated.
