KAAC gives away Rangsi Sarpo awards, Nekali Lazo adjudged best film

HOWRAGHAT, June 25:  In a bid to give encouragement and due recognition to the talented artistes of the district, the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) presented the Rangsi Sarpo Award to those who have shown excellence in the field of cinema.

The award giving function was organized by the Art and Cultural Affairs Department of the KAAC here on Tuesday evening in presence of eminent artistes of the district. The function was held at the Joy Sing Doloi Auditorium Complex where KAAC CEM Tuliram Rongahng attended as chief guest.

EMs Mongal Sing Timung, Bidyasing Rongpi, Langki Timung, Kangjang Terang, MAC, Dorsing Ronghang, KCS president Chandra Sing Kro, Sajay Killing, general secretary, KCS. Besides,  Dhaneswar Engti, joint secretary, KAAC and Hemari Tokbi, Deputy Director of Art and Cultural Affairs, KAAC were also present in the award ceremony.

Awards in various categories were presented to the respective artistes. The Best Actor award was won by Dilip Bey while Maloti Rongpipi won the Best Female Actor for the film Nekali Lajo, while Raju Rongpher and Rengka Engtipi were given the Best Supporting Actor awards (male and female, respectively) for their performance in Nekali Lajo.

Longsing Engti won the best comic actor award for Tengne-uneh 2, while Mahendra Teron walked away with the best child artiste award for Honthe. The best director award of the year went to Babu Rongpi for Nekali Lajo that was also declared the best film of the year. The best music director award went to Horen Tokbi for Nekali Lajo while the best lyricist award went to Chandra Sing Kro.

The other winners in different categories are Suraj Kr. Duwara (best videography), Kak Bordoloi, (best choreographer), Anja Engtipi (best costume designer), Babu Rongpi and Dilip Bey (best scriptwriter and screenplay for Nekali Lajo). Chandra Sing Kro won the best lyricist and best story writer awards for Mirbiri Arlo… (Nekali Lajo).

The best playback singer (male and female) awards went to Mirmili Rongpipi for Mirbiri Arlo… (Nekali Lajo) and  Bijoy Lekthe for  Nesengve alamthe….. (Tengne-uneh 2). Mohendro Teron  and Tado Beypi received the best actor in negative role award for Honthe Hemtunpi.

Kangbura Milik got the Special Jury Award, 2015 for Hemtunpi. The best playback singer award went to Mirmili Rongpipi this year for Mirbiri Arlo… (Nekali Lajo).

The documentary film Karbi Historical Monuments was given the Consolation Award. All the winners were presented with a Rangsi Sarpo trophy, certificates and cash.
