Kamrup (M) Administration Appeals Not to Use Plastic Flags in Independence Day

GUWAHATI: Stating that some street vendors and shopkeepers have been selling plastic flags in and around Guwahati ahead in the run-up to the Independence Day, the Kamrup (M) administration appealed to all public not to sell or buy flags made of plastic.

In a release, the administration said, according to Section 2 of Prevention of Insults to National Honour Act, 1971, one should not disrespect the National Flag. The use of plastic Flag is also a sign of disrespect to the National Flag.

Hence, the administration appealed to all street vendors and shopkeepers not to sell plastic flag and to all masses not to encourage selling and buying of plastic made National Flag to ensure strict compliance of the Flag Code.
