HAMREN, Jan 24: The All India Karbi Students’ Union (AIKSU) second foundation day and annual conference was held at the Don Bosco Institute conference hall, Kharguli in Guwahati recently. The conference was attended by MLA Dr. Numol Momin as chief guest along with various dignitaries, including social and student organization leaders from Karbi Anglong and other parts of Assam and neighbouring States. Dr. Momin said at the gathering that the Karbi cultural hall, Garo Bhavan and Karbi hostel would be constructed soon in Guwahati. He also urged the student leaders to chalk out a strategy to bring more development in the field of education in the two hill districts.

“The KAAC is 60 years old but no sign of development can be seen in the field of education. Therefore, the student leaders have to take the responsibility to promote work culture instead of bandh culture in the district. The two hill districts are still lagging behind in all spheres because illiteracy. We need to be prioritized as acquiring higher and quality education is most important,” said Dr Momin.

Dignitaries like  Dhoromsing Ronghang, president of GGKSA, Rotan Sanowal, president of AAKSU, Hafijul Ahmed, president of GMSU, and Rabul Das, president of AJYCP,  encouraged the youths and students to become better citizens for the society. A magazine titled The Voice of AIKSU was also released during the programme by Enush Timung, president of AIKSU and general secretary Bikram Hanse.
