GUWAHATI, Feb 11: With a view publicizing and popularizing the indigenous culture of Karbi Anglong, the Karbi Cultural Society (KCS) is going to hold its 43rd Karbi Youth Festival, 2017 with a five-day programme at Taralangso in Diphu from February 15. Addressing the press on that occasion here today, KCS president Chandra Sing Kro and general secretary Bidya Sing Rongpi, festival's reception committee president Sum Ronghang and general secretary Chandra Kanta Terang said: "Since its inception in 1974, the KCS has been organizing Karbi Youth Festival annually without any break. We've been holding this cultural festival by involving Karbi artistes of all the 26 zones of Karbi Anglong. Though the festival was held at various places in the hill district earlier, Taralsngso is going to set a record by holding this festival for the 25th time in a row this year. Among other things, we're contemplating on setting up an ethnic Karbi village at an 800-bigha plot at Taralangso. The village will have model cottages of each of the 28 ethnic groups of the hill district."
