Karimganj Police Detains 18 Women on Charges of Stripping & Assaulting Woman

Karimganj: In a major development to the sensational incident at Karimganj on Friday, Karimganj Police apprehended at least 18 women from Magura Village on Saturday for allegedly stripping and rubbing red chilly powder on a 34-year-old woman's private organs over a money dispute.

It is to be noted that out of 18 women, 4 are been arrested and were interrogated further by the police.

The arrested four women were identified as Rilini Charai (27), Haimanting Charai (35), Zonjirai Charai (45) and Tinili Charai (33).

A case has also been registered under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) of bearing case number 174/18.

As per a police report, Karimganj Police had launched a search operation in the early morning hours to apprehend the culprits. The operation was headed by two DSP (probationary) police officers.

Reportedly, a man was also detained by the police for a detailed investigation into the matter.

Meanwhile, Superintendent of Police, Karimganj Police, Gaurav Upadhay said that the identification and consecutive detentions were conducted since yesterday itself. The accused four will be produced before a court on Sunday. “We have apprehended 19 persons, including 18 females and 1 male, out of which four women were directly involved,” said SP Upadhay.
