KHADC introduces six bills

FROM A REPORTER

SHILLONG, June 20: The KHADC today introduced six bills for consideration during its summer session which started today. The bills will be taken up for discussion on June 24.

Prior to the bills being introduced for consideration in the house, HSPDP MDC Sohryngkham constituency Pyniaid Syng Syiem said, “We got these bills just three days back but as per the rules, the draft bills need to be circulated to all the members at least 30 days back.”

He also requested the Executive Committee to take up the matter seriously so that such cases are not repeated.

“If there are many bills to be introduced for consideration in the house it’s going to be very difficult to go through all of them if we receive the bills at the last moment,” he said.

The six bills introduced for consideration includes the United Khasi Jaintia Hills Autonomous District (Magement and Control of Forest) (Sixth Amendment) Bill 2016, United Khasi Jaintia Hills District Fishery (Second Amendment) Bill 2016, Khasi Hills Autonomous District (Nomition and Election of the Syiem and Electors of Nongspung Syiemship) Bill 2016, Khasi Hill Autonomous District (Appointment of Sirdar and Headmen of Myrdon Sirdarship) Bill 2016, Khasi Hills Autonomous District (Nomition and Election of the Syiem, Deputy Syiem and Lyngdoh of Nobosohphoh Syiemship) Bill 2016 and Khasi Hills Autonomous District (Appointment and Succession of the Sirdar, Myntri and Headmen of Mawdon Sirdarship) Bill 2016.
