Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council Gets The Backing Of Minister of State for Finance Anurag Singh Thakur

SHILLONG: Minister of State for Finance Anurag Singh Thakur on Tuesday assured that all possible help will be given to the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC). The assurance from the minister came after a meeting with Deputy CEM KHADC Pyniaid Sing Syiem and Executive Member in-charge Land Titos Chyne at his official residence in New Delhi.

“In our meeting with minister Anurag Singh Thakur, assurances were given to us that support will be given by the Centre to the district council,”

Pyniaid Sing Syien told The Sentinel via phone today. He also informed that the meeting was successful and fruitful. The two KHADC leaders also submitted a memorandum to the minister. Earlier, Syiem and Chyne had also sought the intervention of Union Minister of State for Minorities Affairs Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi at his residence in Delhi seeking his intervention on the memorandum submitted by them to the 15th Finance Commission headed by Nand Kishore Singh, seeking Rs 1,544.34 crore as financial support from the Centre for enabling the council to improve its administration and taking up developmental activities.
