SHILLONG, July 23: Election of the Chairman of the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) will be held on Tuesday at the Council Hall.
The Meghalaya Governor earlier had fixed the election of the Chairman of the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) on July 24 and the filing of nomination will be held on July 23.

In this connection, Hadrian Lyngdoh (PDF) from the Opposition People’s Democratic Alliance (PDA) and UDP MDC from Shella, Teinwell Dkhar from the Khasi Hills Democratic Alliance (KHDA) today filed their nomination for the position of Chairman at the office chamber of the secretary of the legislative wing of the district council.

Earlier this month on July 20, Equator L. Nongrang, the UDP MDC from Mairang, was elected as the Deputy Chairman of the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) after the candidate for the People’s Democratic Alliance withdrew.

Further, following the withdrawal by Morning Mawsor, members of the Opposition (PDA) did not turn up for the deliberation in the House. Equator L Nongrang was elected to the post of Deputy Chairman in the KHADC unopposed.

It may be mentioned that KHADC CEM Hispreaching Son Shylla is contemplating to appoint HSPDP MDC from Mylliem, Teilinia Thangkhiew as the Deputy CEM.
