SHILLONG: The newly formed Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) Executive Committee of the People’s Democratic Alliance (PDA) held its first meeting on Friday to discuss the proposal to table a full budget in the upcoming council meeting on March 25.

Speaking to reporters after the meeting, KHADC CEM, Teiñwell Dkhar said, “The EC meeting was held today to discuss on tabling a full budget in the upcoming district council session.”

Dkhar informed that the budget session of the council will start on March 25 and conclude on March 28.

“This is not the first time that the KHADC will table a full budget in the House. However, this is the second time as the same was done last year,” he said.

Asked on the utilization of Rs 111 crore sanctioned by the Central Government, Deputy CEM, KHADC, Pyniaid Sing Syiem said, “This amount sanctioned by the Centre will also reflect in the budget, however right now we don’t want to disclose anything on this because most of the members of the district council have yet to receive proper details.”

The total amount of Rs 111 crore are meant for all the three Autonomous District Councils (ADCs) in Meghalaya, out of which Rs 52 crore has been allotted to the KHADC.
