Khasi Students Union (KSU) Takes Out ‘Victory’ Rally

Shillong: Soon after learning that the tabling of the CAB has been stalled in the Rajya Sabha, members of the Khasi Students Union (KSU) took out a victory procession in Shillong. KSU volunteers in two wheelers and cars took out a procession and caught the law enforcing agencies off guard. The procession crisscrossed the heart of the city with chants like ‘Bangladeshis go Back” and ‘Victory is ours”.

Speaking to The Sentinel from New Delhi, KSU president Lambok Marngar, said “It’s a victory to the indigenous people who have their own distinct culture, traditions and beliefs. Our constant fear of being swamped by outsiders has diminished”.

Meanwhile, the Conglomeration of Hynniewterep Social Organisation (CoCSO) in a release issued on Wednesday evening echoed similar views by congratulating the two MPs, the Chief Minister, the ministers, MLAs, MDCs and other social organisations that have stood rock solid in opposing the CAB.

However, the CoCSO reminded that this is only a victory in a small battle because a major war lies ahead for the local inhabitants of the State. “We should awake now because we need laws like the Inner Line Permit, the National Registry of Citizens in the State of Meghalaya”, the CoCSO stated.
