SHILLONG, May 3: The Khun Hynniewtrep tiol Awakening Movement (KHM) on Wednesday extended its support to the Khasi Author Society (KSA) in celebrating the 175 years of existence of the Khasi language through a public rally scheduled to be held on May 5. “It’s very important to uplift our own language right from schools, colleges and in our own homes and any community who does not respect their own literature is a community which is going downhill,” KHM president Pyndapthiawbor Saibon said on Wednesday. In an attempt to preserve and uplift the Khasi language the political party (KHM) has urged all the indigenous people to attend the public rally to support the cause and positive intention of the KAS. He informed that leaders of KHM right from the central leadership will be participating in the public rally. “We urge all our members to come out in numbers and attend the rally on May 5, at Dorbah Hall Jaiaw Shyiap at 11AM,” he said.
