Krish emerges as sole leader

GUWAHATI, Feb 11: Top seed Krish Dutta of Guwahati stopped the giant killing spree of unrated Shyam Babu Singha also of Guwahati in fifth round in 40th All Assam Inter District Veteran Chess Championship being held in Rajbari Athletic Club in the city today. Shyam Babu, who earlier beat second seed Prodip Bhuyan in 3rd round and seventh seed Md. Ardash Ali in 4th round could not withstand the attack of Top seed Krish Dutta and lost after 46th move.

Now Krish Dutta is leading the field with 5 points from five rounds. Shyam Babu Singha of Guwahati and Deba Dutta of Dibrugarh are in joint second spot with 4 points each. In the fifth round Deba Dutta beat Prodip Bhuyan of Guwahati. Nilkamal Das of Guwahati and Subrata ndi Roy of Cachar share the third spot with 3.5 points each. Fil round will be held tomorrow and it will be followed by prize distribution.
